Join the Society

Membership

Membership is open to people interested in history, genealogy, museums and heritage conservation. Family membership covers more than one person living at the same address.

A community of curious people

Whether you are tracing a family, researching a house or simply love the stories of the Highlands, membership connects you with people who enjoy making discoveries and sharing what they find. General meetings bring members together for guest speakers, while the Family History Group offers a friendly place to exchange ideas and work through research questions.

Members receive the Society newsletter each month except January, with local stories, research and news from the Society. Membership also includes free museum entry and access to the archives and library for your own research. The Society can undertake research on your behalf at $40 per hour; contact the research centre to discuss the question and request a quote.

Membership benefits

  • A monthly newsletter, except in January, with local and family history stories and Society news.
  • Monthly general meetings with guest speakers and opportunities to meet other members.
  • Free access to the archives and library resources, with assistance for your own research.
  • Free entry to Berrima District Museum.
  • Training and workshops, opportunities to learn new skills and share knowledge, and ways to help preserve local history.
  • Rewarding volunteering opportunities at the archives and museum.

Whether you have a long connection with the district or are just beginning to explore it, membership is a way to learn, contribute and share discoveries with others.

Help keep local history alive

Volunteers help care for the collections, welcome museum visitors and share knowledge at the archives. Membership is a way to support that work and, if you would like to take part, to ask about opportunities that match your interests and skills.
