A family connection to the works
Tom Mitchell started at Berrima as a young man in 1955 and worked in a variety of jobs, mostly as a cleaner. His father Bill had helped build the works with a horse and dray in 1927 and later worked as a wash miller. Tom remembered helping his father care for the mine horses over the Christmas break.
