One clue can lead to another

A school register may put a child in a particular place and year. A newsletter can add the story of the school, while a photograph or local history brings its community into view. Browse the collections below, follow a name or place that interests you, and return to the original documents for the details.

Sometimes history survives because someone recognises its value. In 2025, historian Judith Dunn recovered a bundle of photographs, letters and documents from the Moss Vale tip. The papers had belonged to newspaper editor Jim Shepherd and included local photographs and First World War letters. They became part of the Society’s archives, where such fragments can open new paths into local lives.
